What's our Why?

Our Future: We believe education is the life-blood of our nation's future. Unfortunately, we see schools, administrators, and teachers being asked to do more with less. We want to see as many resources as possible devoted to the learning process. Frankly, we realize every dollar put towards property & casualty insurance and employee benefits, is a dollar that can't be used towards the instruction and student achievement. This fact is at the front of our minds as we help our partners build a risk management and insurance program.

A Trusted Partner: The use of the word partner throughout this website is intentional. This is what we strive to become. Selling an insurance policy does not "get us out of bed" each morning. Being a trusted partner of your team does.

Passion: We believe in the adage: if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. Educational entities and insurance are what we know and love. We're thankful we get to combine these two passions each day.

Who are we?

Insuring Schools is a division of Miller Insurance Group. It is lead by Chad Miller. Chad spent six years in public education as a teacher and administrator before deciding to transition into a career in risk management and insurance. While the decision to leave education was a difficult one, the idea of opening  a third location of his family's fourth generation independent insurance agency was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. At the conclusion of the 2014-15 school year, Chad opened Miller Insurance Group - Indianapolis in Broad Ripple, one of Indianapolis' five cultural districts. It is at this location where Insuring Schools was born.

Miller Insurance Group was founded after some of the most difficult years in our country’s history. In 1937, Richard S. Miller started Miller Insurance, and shortly thereafter opened the first office in Bremen, Indiana. As the agency grew, so did the need to add staff. In the early 1960s, both of Richard’s sons, Dan and Doug Miller, joined their father in the business. From that point through the 1980s it truly was a “family” business. In 1987, a third generation joined the business when Greg Miller transitioned from the carrier to the agency side of the insurance business. The 1990s were a time of incredible growth. On the last day of 1999 Miller Insurance acquired Norcen Insurance out of Culver, Indiana. With the acquisition, Miller/Norcen Insurance was born. Miller/Norcen Insurance has continued its growth since then. In August of 2015, generation four joined the business as Greg’s son, Chad, opened and operates a new branch of the business out of Indianapolis, Indiana. In January 2018, we acquired Countryside Insurance in Wakarusa, Indiana. With this addition, we now have sixteen team members in four different locations: Bremen, Culver, Indianapolis, and Wakarusa. Given we are much more than the “Miller” family business, we changed our name to Miller Insurance Group to reflect this at the end of 2015. We just finished our 80th year in business and look forward to many more!
